The Client:

Blackburn College in Lancashire, UK was founded in 1888 as Blackburn Technical College. It was established to provide technical education to the local community. 

Early history

  • The college was built through public subscription and philanthropic donations 
  • The foundation stone was laid by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who later became Edward VII 
  • The college specialized in engineering and textiles 
  • The college’s Victoria Building was designed to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee 
  • The building’s façade is decorated with panels and the stained glass windows depict science, technology, the arts, and manufacturing 

Work Completed:

Work included the phased replacement of failing pipework systems with minimal disruption to the education facility.
