Completion of Building Services for Homeless Shelter in Wythenshawe
We are proud to announce the successful completion of building services works on the transformation of a former probation office in Wythenshawe into a vital new resource for the community — a 20-bed homeless shelter offering safe, supported accommodation for single individuals facing homelessness.
Background
The building, once used as a probation centre, had stood vacant in recent years. Recognising both the urgent local need for temporary housing solutions and the potential of the site, a collaborative project was initiated to convert the space into a modern, purpose-built homeless shelter.
Located in a residential area of Wythenshawe, the facility has now been fully renovated and reconfigured to support those in immediate housing crisis. The newly completed works mark a significant milestone in repurposing redundant civic buildings for community benefit.
Project Overview
The completed building services encompassed a comprehensive upgrade and reconfiguration of the internal infrastructure to ensure the property could meet the complex requirements of a 24/7 supported accommodation service. The project has delivered:
20 private bedrooms for single homeless individuals
Communal living and kitchen areas to promote social integration and daily routine
Staff facilities, including offices and welfare spaces for on-site Accommodation Support Workers
Accessible car parking for staff and visitors
A Lifeline for Those in Need
The shelter has been designed to support individuals who have become homeless through no fault of their own. Residents may be fleeing domestic abuse, struggling with mental health issues such as depression or anxiety, or facing housing insecurity due to debt, unemployment, bereavement, or family breakdowns.
Looking Ahead
This facility is not just about bricks and mortar — it’s about creating opportunities and hope for people at a pivotal point in their lives. We are honoured to have contributed to a project that will positively impact the Wythenshawe community for years to come.
