Following the major fire at the neighbouring Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses Ltd, Murray Building Services were appointed by Huck Construction to deliver the full mechanical services package at Ribble Valley Shelving as part of the site’s recovery and reinstatement works.
The scale of damage to the surrounding area was significant, with sections of the building envelope compromised. Early engagement allowed our team to support the design development process and coordinate closely with the wider project team to ensure mechanical infrastructure was seamlessly integrated into the reinstated structure.
Scope of Works
Our mechanical services package included:
- New above-ground drainage systems
- Domestic hot and cold water services
- Compressed air installation
- Gas distribution systems
- Heating installations
- General mechanical ventilation systems
- Full automatic controls integration
From initial design development through to commissioning and setting to work, every system was carefully specified and installed to meet current compliance standards, operational demands, and long-term performance requirements. Particular attention was given to coordination with structural and architectural elements following the fire damage, ensuring all services were robust, accessible, and future-proofed.
Delivering Operational Resilience
The successful completion of these works marks a key milestone in restoring the facility’s full operational capability. The new mechanical infrastructure provides a safe, efficient, and fully compliant environment, supporting the site’s continued recovery and resilience.
Projects of this nature demonstrate Murray Building Services’ ability to respond to challenging circumstances, work collaboratively with principal contractors, and deliver complex mechanical installations on programme and to budget, even when the starting point is a severely compromised structure.
