Blackburn College in Lancashire, UK was founded in 1888 as Blackburn Technical College. It was established to provide technical education to the local community.
Early history
- The college was built through public subscription and philanthropic donations
- The foundation stone was laid by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who later became Edward VII
- The college specialized in engineering and textiles
- The college’s Victoria Building was designed to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee
- The building’s façade is decorated with panels and the stained glass windows depict science, technology, the arts, and manufacturing
Work Completed:
Work included the phased replacement of failing pipework systems with minimal disruption to the education facility.
