MBS Sponsors English Junior Squash Champion

MBS Sponsor Junior Squash Champion

Junior squash champion Charlie McCrone celebrates her fourth win in Surrey.

Coached by Laura Massaro, a former squash world champion in Chorley Lancashire, Charlie scooped the U17 prize adding to her previous wins in age categories U11, U13, and U15.

The English Junior Championships is renowned as one of the biggest tournaments on the English junior circuit, attracting more than 300 of the finest juniors across 11 age categories from the mixed under 9s through to the girls and boys under 19s. The championships have been running since 2010 and have several famous names etched on the coveted trophies including England’s Declan James and Millie Tomlinson.

Charlie is the daughter of Helen McCrone employed by MBS and is sponsored jointly by two Blackburn-based companies, Murray Building Services, and Xpressive  Interiors.

“One of the upsets came in the Girls U17 final, as [2] Charlie McCrone (Lancs) came from two games down to topple top seed [1] Emily Coulcher-Porter (Bucks) 3-2 to bag her fourth EJC title.

“Coulcher-Porter, who hadn’t dropped a single game prior to the final, looked to continue her perfect streak when she took a commanding two-game lead, winning 11-7 and 11-8.

“McCrone, who had a hat-trick of EJC crowns under her belt going into this year’s event, responded magnificently as she overturned the deficit to take the match with 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 victories to add a fourth national title.”
