Winter has been another productive period for Murray Building Services, with strong project delivery across healthcare, education and heritage sectors.
We’ve secured several significant new schemes and completed key projects within live environments, reinforcing our reputation for reliable mechanical services delivery across the North West.
I’m also pleased to see continued development within our maintenance and lifecycle division, supported by well-earned internal promotions and new additions to the team.

New Wins for the quarter
Earlestown Town Hall
Client: HH Smith
Refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed building to provide new reception, office, event and community spaces, including café facilities. Our works include new HVRF air conditioning, heating, domestic water and public health services.
Royal Blackburn Hospital – Pharmacy Clinic
Client: D&G
Internal modifications to create a new Clinical Trials area, including installation of DX split heat pump and CHW cooling units within a live hospital environment.
North Manchester General Hospital – Ward F5
Client: Graham Asset Management
RAAC removal and refurbishment works including replacement fans and new ventilation systems, while adapting existing services to suit the revised layout.
Alder Hey Hospital – Condition Repair Works
Direct appointment.
Westmorland Hospital – New Kitchen AHU Works
Client: Pinington
Installation of new supply AHU and louvre connections to improve ventilation performance within the kitchen area.
Tameside Hospital – Gamma Camera Works
Client: D&G
Minor mechanical works supporting specialist diagnostic equipment installations.
Bothy Cottages
Client: HH Smith
Repairs, restoration and alterations including installation of air source heat pumps, underfloor heating and extract ventilation within a heritage setting.
Project Completions for the quarter
Ribble Valley Shelving – Mechanical Services Reinstatement
Client: Huck Construction
Completed: January 2026
Full mechanical services design, installation and commissioning delivered following significant fire damage, restoring operational capability in partnership with Huck Construction.

Nevill Road Infant School
Client: Copeland Group
Completed: February 2026
Comprehensive mechanical services upgrade including replacement heating plant, pipework, emitters, controls, hot water plant and new ventilation systems. Delivered in phases during term time to maintain a safe learning environment. Read more here.

Internal Promotions
We are pleased to recognise the following promotions across the business:

- Martin Hickson – Mechanical Services Life Cycle / Minor Works Manager
- John Heenan – Technical Contracts Manager
- Paul Muckelt – Contracts Manager
- John Garswood – Technical Maintenance Manager
- Mike Pearson – Maintenance Service Manager
- Jack Atherton – Mechanical Services Engineer. Jack has transitioned from his previous role within our maintenance department, where he worked as a Maintenance Co-ordinator, into the contracts team as an Intermediate Mechanical Services Engineer. He has also recently commenced a T-Level in Building Services Engineering at Salford College, further strengthening his technical knowledge and supporting his continued professional development within the business.
These promotions reflect the strength and depth of expertise within the business, particularly across procurement, contracts management and our growing maintenance division.
New Appointments
We’re pleased to welcome to the team:
- Jack Warnes – Maintenance Coordinator
- Jake Turner started early Feb as a maintenance plumber.
These appointments further strengthen our delivery and maintenance support capability.
